Koenigsegg CCXR Special Edition, Got $2.3 Mil?

Written by steven on February 27, 2008 – 1:30 pm -

The Koenigsegg CCXR, the second most powerful production car in the world, has a price tag more fitting for a King.  $2.3 million doesn’t go as far as it used to.  But the Koenigsegg CCXR Special Edition does sport E85 ethanol fuel so you can feel like you’re part of the environmental movement - NOT.

It takes the GDP of a small country to build one of these things, but that’s what happens when you want a twin-supercharged 4.7L V8 and a mind-googling (yes we said googling) 1018 horsepower.  That’s 0-62 in 2.9 seconds!!!!!!  Parked in front of the Chinese Theatre and need to get outta fast?  Well, in less then 3 seconds, you’ll be breaking city speed limits.  Top speed is 250 mph, just slightly less than that 747 flight to Sweden, where this gorgeous monster hails from.

Miami Supercar Weekend with James Glickenhaus

Written by steven on February 12, 2008 – 6:43 pm -

James Glickenhaus, of Garage419, is one of the most admired supercar owners today. Not only because he pushes a Ferrari P4/5 but also because he hangs out at auto shows and flashes his ill-ness. We like him because he talks shit about Lamborghinis and actually knows what he’s talking about.

Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera - A Whole Lotta Supercar

Written by steven on February 2, 2008 – 6:27 pm -

If you don’t have the cash, just oggle the photo, otherwise that’s $224,800 base/$249,895 with some goodies.

Specs: A 5-liter V-10 (523 horsepower, 376 pound-feet of torque); six-speed manual or six-speed automated manual transmission. About 11 mpg in town and 17 on the highway, which gets you slapped with a $3,000 guzzler tax (what’s that to a baller like you, a parking ticket?)

Competition: Ferrari F430 F1 coupe, Porsche 911 GTS, Aston Martin DBS which is the only one more expensive at around $265,000.

Detroit Auto Show Highlights

Written by steven on January 20, 2008 – 12:20 pm -

Fisker Coachbuild probably has the illest whip at the Detroit Auto Show - this thing is a plug-in hybrid yet drives (almost) like a Supercar. Way to go.

Maybach Landaulet

Mercedes is pushing their Maybach line further upstream with this ill Maybach Landaulet, which is said to be very popular with Sheiks in Dubai. Bullet proofing should come standard.

Ford Explorer America - ill! I’d cop this, especially if the 4×4 and rock climbing action improved. This is how you do modern and keep SUV thug style.   Still, the time of big footprint SUVs may be on the decline for a while.

Landrover LRX - you know what, looks wise, I’m feelin’ that Explorer a bit more. I’m sure this performs crazy better but its moving towards car and away from truck.

BMW 128i convertible - ahight - kinda boring, but will sell like hotcakes.

Toyota A-BAT Concept

Toyota showed off their A-BAT Concept at the Detroit Auto Show. The NYTimes is calling it a modern “El Camino”. I don’t know if that ’s a compliment or not, but looks like all she needs is some good music and a pair of 12″ subs in the back.

Ford Verve - not bad at all. Its still a concept, but we like we’re Ford’s trying to go with this. Keep it up fellas.

Not Ill: Jeep Renegade. This thing is strictly toy. Think about it, would Range Rover ever put out something this toy? Damn, people. We’d push this on the beach, or the sand dunes, but on the street? Hex no cousin. Being this off is why American automakers got themselves into a deep hole. Here at illwhips.com, we’re not trying to focus on uninspired toys like this, but we just had to show you an example of what not to do.

Lexus LF-A Roadster - Make it Already!

Written by admin on January 19, 2008 – 4:31 pm -

We’ve heard alot about this thing, and we’ve seen it in showrooms (porn below), but there’s no confirmation its going to actually get built.  We don’t see why not.  This thing is ill.  Supposedly there’s a mid-mounted V-10 just below five liters, driving real wheels with an 8 speed automatic.  Supposedly this  thing gets 500 horsepower and the top speed is 200 mph!  It may not happen but it damn well should.  This would be the Lexus supercar to own and truly an ill whip.

Audi R8 Diesel and Ferarri F430 BioDiesel - Supercars go Green (not!)

Written by admin on January 19, 2008 – 4:03 pm -

You have mad loot, so why should you feel guilty about pushing a Supercar? Well for one thing, most supercars get terrible gas mileage - that’s not going to change anytime soon but now you can tell your superficial friends what they want to hear - yeah, my Supercar is environmentally friendly (kinda).  Peep the Audi R8 Diesel.

or this Ferarri F430 BioDiesel.  You can go get some fries, squeeze the grease out and pour into your $250K Ferarri, just so you don’t have to be a gas guzzler like the rest of us.  Smooth?  Hmm, sounds dubious to us, but we’ll let it go.  Ferarri, Audi and the rest of them are putting their million dollar toes into the green auto thing and we’re happy to see it.  Let’s hope more exciting ideas come down the pipe for these Supercar companies.
